Gerda Geddes was the first European to bring Tai Chi to Britain and was a remarkable woman who had many achievements including working with victims of the Holocaust. You can find out more about Gerda here or buy her biography
Following her death in 2006, we set up a Bursary in her name but now, with the current financial climate, we are relaunching this Bursary as the Gerda Geddes Fund to provide some financial support in these difficult times.
To reflect our status as a Community Interest Company, we will set aside £4,500 each year to assist those members working with disadvantaged groups or individuals where Tai Chi and Internal Arts may help with issues such as mental health, self-esteem and social inclusion. These could include migrants, self-help groups, schools in deprived areas etc.
Up to 3 grants are awarded in March, June and September with the maximum grant of £500 available to Instructors who have been a member for a year or more.
